Dear Parent,
While the summer months can
be a hectic time for some, I know they are sometimes idle times for
students. In an effort to provide great things for your High School
Student to do, we have a great two months planned for them this summer.
Included with this letter is
a calendar and a detailed explanation. I hope you will encourage your
child to participate whenever possible and that you’ll come with them
to some of these events!
If you have any questions about
this summer’s schedule, please email me at david.achata@flhosp.org and I’ll get back with you ASAP.
ALWAYS check www.hospitalyouth.org before coming to any of these events
for further details and updates. If there’s anything I can do for
you or your child, please let me know!
Sincerely,
David Achata
*If your student has graduated from High School, please disregard this letter.
The following are the details
of the Summer Calendar for High School Students:
For Sabbaths, whenever you
see a “T” this is who is teaching Sabbath School. Whenever you see
an “H” this is who is hosting—the person(s) who brings food and
assists in whatever is going on.
We will attend 1st Service Worship, and then all 7th-12th grade students are invited to get connected from 10:00-11:15 am on the 3rd floor!
Games, food, interaction - the perfect opportunity for students to get to know people at their church and join a 4-week summer small group with students their own age.
ALSO:
Parents of 7th-12th Grade Students
Enjoy an awesome lunch provided by the church.
Families with last names A-L should bring drinks
Families with last names M-Z should bring desserts
Come and spend
time with other parents while your Jr-Sr High students spend time getting
to know their small group leader for the summer.
Students and
parents, call Gerry Letang (407.706.1129) or email: Gerry_Letang@yahoo.com to sign up for this event. Parents
are invited to bring food to sell at the game. All profits will go toward
helping students participate in summer events. This event will happen
depending on the amount of students who sign up at church during Sabbath
School. Please check for updates on this.
Every Summer Students 5th-8th
grade participate in “Service Camp”, a weeklong camp designed to
get younger students connected with their community. We will be washing
cars at Christian Help, a community organization that gives people jobs
and food and cleaning some of their grounds. We’ll also be cleaning
a local park and spending a morning at Second Harvest Food Bank. This
is a fun event for younger students and High School students are always
welcome to volunteer to help supervise and assist in whatever way is
needed. This is also a great way for you to get your community service
hours taken care of! Email david.achata@flhosp.org to get involved.
The cost is $100 per student.
We will be going to North Carolina this year to mountain bike and whitewater
raft. Many of your children have received registration forms by email
and at Sabbath School. If they have not received one and want to go,
email me at david.achata@flhosp.org and I will email you the forms ASAP.
